Over the period under consideration, the number of patients hospitalized in public hospitals has decreased, whereas the number of patients in private hospitals increased by almost 150 percent in 2019 compared to 2010. Because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the number of hospitalized patients dropped in 2020, since only emergency cases were allowed in hospitals for several months.
