As of 2022, the value of personal remittances received in Africa was lowest in Gabon and Seychelles. In these countries, the amount reached 4.2 million and 9.3 million U.S. dollars, respectively. Sao Tome and Principe and Angola followed with around 11 million and 16 million U.S. dollars, respectively.

Trends over time are not directly comparable due to changes in measurement. Also, the data often do not include remittances sent by migrants via money transfer operators (i.e. Western Union) or informal transfers (i.e. friends, relatives)."
