As of 2020, most Nigerians did not trust the police at all. This lack of trust was higher among the urban population, where six in 10 respondents declared not to trust the police. In addition, 19 percent of the interviewees from urban areas and 26.8 percent from rural Nigeria stated that they trusted the police just a little.
