In 2020, the hotel sector was heavily impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and travel restrictions. The demand for hotel real estate in the United States fell to 0.82 billion square feet in that year, but has improved since. In 2022, the total demand stood at 1.27 billion square feet.
