According to the source, all data shown are the World Bank’s calculations based on data from IMF Balance of Payments Statistics database and data releases from central banks, national statistical agencies, and World Bank country desks. Trends over time are not directly comparable due to changes in measurement. Also, the data often do not include remittances sent by migrants via money transfer operators (i.e. Western Union) or informal transfers (i.e. friends, relatives).
