It was estimated that, in 2020, around 11 percent of the Spanish population aged 15 and older had been diagnosed with chronic allergies. Meanwhile, approximately four percent of the country's inhabitants had received an asthma diagnosis. These figures portray a decrease in comparison to 2017 data. However, it is not yet clear to what extent the estimates were affected by the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Previous figures had shown an increasing trend on both asthma and chronic allergies.

The European Health Survey and Spain's National Health Survey alternate every 2.5 years. Both contain harmonized data.

Data for 2012 was obtained between 2011 and 2012.

The sample size provided corresponds to the European Health Survey carried out in 2020.
