According to a survey conducted in 2020, there were considerable differences between electric connection in the rural and urban areas of Nigeria. Around 90 percent of the houses in urban areas had electricity provided by PHCN, while in rural areas this share reached only 46 percent. PHCN, Power Holding Company of Nigeria, governs the use of electricity in Nigeria.
