Outbound business trips in the European Union 2012-2019

*Data prior to 2020 refer to the European Union (EU-28) including the United Kingdom, data 2020 and newer refer to the EU-27.

This collection covers national tourism. Data is collected by the competent national authorities of the Member States and is compiled according to a harmonized methodology established by EU regulations before transmission to Eurostat. Most of the time, data on domestic and outbound trips (where "outbound tourism" means residents of a country travelling in another country) is collected via sample surveys. However, in a few cases the data are compiled from border surveys. Surveys are generally conducted on a monthly or quarterly basis.
