In the school year 2018/2019, there were one million primary school teachers in Nigeria, in both private and public schools. The states of Cross River and Kaduna counted over 100 thousand teachers each, the largest number nationwide. In the same year, there were about 117 thousand elementary schools in Nigeria. The state of Lagos alone counted almost 15 thousand schools, which was the highest in the country.
