International visitors accounted for 27 percent of the hotel beds occupied in Tanzania as of December 2020. Hotels in the country had a total of roughly 137 thousand bednights occupied that month. The share of international visitors increased in the second half of that year, after falling drastically to only 0.9 percent in April, as an effect of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
