In July 2021, right after being released in closed beta, Amazon's New World game accounted for 29 percent of the 185 million live stream watch hours for the MMO (massively multiplayer online game) genre. New World's closed beta ended on August 2nd and along with that, MMO viewing hours dropped by 33 percent. Regardless of this drastic change, August was still the second most active month of the year 2021 in terms of MMORPG live stream hours watched with 123 million hours of watch time in total.
