Over 251,000 persons were returned to the three countries that make up the Northern Triangle of Central America (Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras) in 2019, the largest figure of the period under consideration. Approximately 43 percent of those migrants were returned to Honduras. In 2020, due to the restrictions imposed during the pandemic, the volume of returnees more than halved, falling to 93,147. During that year, nearly 54 percent of migrants were repatriated from Mexico.
