In 2022, personal remittances received in Ghana covered 6.1 percent of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The share slightly increased compared to the previous year. In the period under review, a peak was registered in 2015, when remittances corresponded to 20.3 percent of the country's GDP. Overall, the ratio fluctuated within the last two decades.

Trends over time are not directly comparable due to changes in measurement. Also, the data often do not include remittances sent by migrants via money transfer operators (i.e. Western Union) or informal transfers (i.e. friends, relatives)."
