In a survey published in March 2021, German consumers were asked about the key attributes when shopping online in general. The most popular or preferred attribute was the in-stock availability of items, contributing to 38 percent of respondents. The least preferred attributes were virtual consultation with the sales associate, virtual experience of products and services through augmented reality (AR) technology, and live chat functionality, accounting for eight percent of respondents uniformly.
