In 2021, surveyed suppliers, shipowners, ship operators, and shipyards expected the areas of maintenance and fleet management to be most affected by increasing digitalization in the shipping industry. While 28 percent of suppliers and 27 percent of shipyards believed that digitalization will have an impact on the use of remotely controlled unmanned ships, shipowners and ship operators were more skeptical.
