Monthly wholesale electricity prices in Spain 2019-2024

The average wholesale electricity price in Spain amounted to 72.54 euros per megawatt-hour in September 2024, an increase compared to the previous month. Wholesale electricity prices skyrocketed in 2021 and 2022, the consequence of an energy supply shortage which severely impacted Europe. Aggravated by Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, electric power prices in Spain spiked in the following months, surpassing 283 euros per megawatt-hour in March 2022.
