According to a survey on Tokyo Olympic audience in China conducted in August 2021, more than 62 percent of respondents who have followed the Games were from new tier-1 cities and above. The same report found that about 41 percent of the Olympic Games viewers watched mainly the matches where Chinese athletes participated in.
