Young working population with skills mismatches in Africa 2019, by employment status
Up to almost half of the young African workforce considered having mismatching skills for their correspondent jobs in survey conducted in 2019. Self-employed individuals registered the highest mismatch rate with 34 percent of those being underskilled for their job. In contrast, waged employees reflected the highest share of overskilled individuals with more than 23 percent of them having more skills and qualifications than necessary.
