Around a quarter of sustainable financial assets managed by professional asset managers were owned by retail investors in both 2018 and 2020. This is an increase from around one fifth in 2016. Retail assets are those assets which are managed by professionals on behalf of individuals, while institutional investors include organizations such as pension funds, universities, foundations and insurers.
