In 2023, the value of coal imports in Vietnam amounted to 7.2 billion U.S. dollars. During the past ten years, the coal import value in the country has been increasing significantly, primarily due to the increased demand for coal from power plants. Coal-generated electricity constituted around half of the country's energy supply in recent years.
