In Iceland, the Southwestern constituency is allocated the highest number of seats in the parliament (Althing). 13 of the 63 representatives in the Althing come from this district. The two Reykjavik constituencies are the second largest, both with 11 seats. The Northwestern district is the smallest, with eight seats. In the election in 2021, the Independence Party received the highest share of votes in the Southwestern district.
