Change of electoral support in the parliamentary election in Iceland 2017-2021

In the parliamentary election in Iceland in 2021, the Independence Party received the highest share of votes, with almost a quarter of all votes; but still slightly less than in 2017. The Progressive Party grew most from the last election, and increased its share of votes by 6.6 percentage points. On the other hand, the Centre Party lost more than half of its share and only just achieved the five percent share needed to meet the electoral threshold. Additionally, the Socialist Party, which took part in the national election for the first time, failed to gain entry the Icelandic parliament as it finished with fewer than five percent of the votes.
