In the fiscal year 2023, Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) carried around 158 million passengers on its high-speed Shinkansen trains, increasing from 131 million in the preceding year. Today operated by Japan Railways Group companies, the Japanese bullet trains have been renowned worldwide for their reliability regarding speed, punctuality, and safety since the inauguration of the first Shinkansen in 1964.
