In Iceland, the Capital Region received the most of the governmental COVID-19 financial support for individuals in 2020, and by a considerable margin. Over 16 billion of the total 24.5 Icelandic Krona given were distributed to people living in the Capital Region. People residing in the Northwestern Region, on the other hand, were awarded the least, only 299 million Icelandic Krona. This roughly corresponds with the number of employees in each regions.
