As of September 2024, 60 percent of respondents surveyed in South Africa stated that they believe the country is going off on the wrong track. However, this demonstrates a degree of optimism since the outcome of the country's general election and the formation of the Government of National Unity. Results between January 2022 and June 2024 showed that the vast majority of respondents reported being pessimistic regarding the country's direction, ranging between 90 and 73 percent.
