As of November 2024, Italy saw an area of around 40,000 hectares lost to wildfires in that year. Just three years earlier, forest and wildland fires ravished more than 150,000 hectares in total. Figures for 2021 were nearly three times those reported in recent years and also the largest within the indicated period.
