As of November 2021, 11 railway network projects were under construction or development in the Philippines. Among these projects, PNR South Long Haul will contribute 639 kilometers of the additional railway system that will connect the capital city of Manila to the provinces of Laguna and Sorsogon. This will reduce travel time from 12 hours to six hours.
