As per the survey results released in July 2021, around 70 percent of the investable assets of China's high net worth individuals were domestic. Compared to 2019, the share of overseas assets has increased two-fold. The overseas asset structure was expected to change from real estate-focused to multiple asset types.

HNWI are persons whose investable assets value at more than 10 million yuan.
The source did not specify the number of respondents in 2021 survey. The number of interviews conducted in previous years ranged between 700 and 3,300 and between 100 and 200 for in-depth interviews. The interviewees mainly included industry experts, relationship managers from private banking and other financial institutions, HNWIs from but not limited to private banking.
