TUI: number of customers worldwide by market 2023

The number of TUI AG customers worldwide grew in 2023 compared to the previous fiscal year but remained below the figures reported before the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Between October 2022 and September 2023, the Northern region, which includes TUI's tour operations and airlines in the UK, Ireland, and the Nordic countries, recorded the highest number of customers, at nearly 7.4 million. Over the same period, the company's number of customers totaled just over 19 million.

Northern region: comprises tour operator activities and airlines in the UK, Ireland, and the Nordics. This segment also included the Canadian strategic venture Sunwing, which sold its tour operation business in May 2023.

Central region: comprises the tour operators and airlines in Germany and the tour operator activities in Austria, Poland, and Switzerland. The tour operator in Italy was closed in 2020.

Western Region: comprises the tour operators and airlines in Belgium and the Netherlands, and the tour operator activities in France.

Hotels and resorts: includes hotels majority-owned by TUI, joint ventures with local partners, stakes in companies giving TUI significant influence, and hotels operated under management contracts.

Cruises: consists of the joint venture TUI Cruises, the former subsidiary Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, transferred to the joint venture TUI Cruises in July 2020, and Marella Cruises.

TUI Musement (previously Destination Experiences): delivers local services at TUI holiday destinations around the world.

All other segments: includes TUI business activities for the new markets, TUI AG's corporate center functions, the interim holdings, the group's real estate companies, and the Group's key tourism functions.
