Vaccination rate against COVID-19 in Italy September 2023, by age group

As of September 24, 2023, around 50 million people in Italy have completed the regular vaccination cycle against COVID-19, corresponding to roughly 85 percent of the total population. In the age group 80 years and older, the one most vulnerable to the virus, this figure reached almost 96 percent. A vaccine for kids under 12 years of age became available only in December 2021. To build a better protection against the virus over time, the Italian authorities started administering a third vaccine dose during autumn 2021, and a fourth dose in spring 2022. So far, roughly three out of four Italians over 12 years of age have received a booster shot.
