Around 8,700 Russian high school graduates passed at least one test within the Unified State Exam with the maximum 100 points in 2024. The number of highest-scoring students marked an increase from the previous year. In order to apply for a higher education program, graduates take exams in several subjects related to the chosen study area. Furthermore, exams in the Russian language and basic mathematics are mandatory. The higher the scores are, the higher the chance of getting a study place is. In programs where a part of places are funded by the state, higher exam scores can also help graduates to study at the university for free.
