The global coal power plant pipeline amounted to 482 gigawatts in 2021. Roughly one third of these projects were already in the construction phase. When compared to 2015, the size of the coal power pipeline notably decreased, showcasing governments' hesitancy in investing in this emission-intensive energy source.
