As of 2021, about 63 percent of the domestic financial assets of China's high net worth individuals were managed by large banks. This survey shows that wealthy Chinese rely on the banking sector for wealth management services as banking institutions accounted for 87 percent of domestic assets.

HNWI are persons whose investable assets value at more than 10 million yuan.
The source did not specify the number of respondents in 2021 survey. The number of interviews conducted in previous years ranged betwen 700 and 3,300 and between 100 and 200 for in-depth interviews. The interviewees mainly included industry experts, relationship managers from private banking and other financial institutions, HNWIs from but not limited to private banking.
