Interactive Brokers' number of accounts 2008-2021
While the number of accounts of brokerage firm Interactive Brokers has been consistently increasing since 2008, this growth sharply accelerated from early 2020 onwards. After taking around 12 years to grow from 100,000 accounts to 700,000 (as of January 2020), by June 2022 Interactive Broker's number of accounts had shot up to more than1.9 million. Consistent with this growth in accounts was a sharp increase in the number of contracts and shares traded by Interactive Brokers in 2020.
