Monthly number of Facebook users in Ghana 2021-2023

In May 2023, there were around 8.67 million Facebook users in Ghana, which was a slight increase compared to the previous month. Between January 2021 and July 2022, the number of users on the social media platform experienced growth. In contrast, the count gradually decreased after July 2022. Nonetheless, in 2023, the total number of people on Facebook was forecast to reach around 11 million.

Facebook population segment

Most Facebook account holders in Ghana are between the ages of 25 and 34. Besides this age group, individuals aged 18 to 24 also represent a larger proportion of the users. Furthermore, men in the country use Facebook more than women. As of December 2022, nearly 60 percent of the users were men, while female account holders accounted for the remaining share.

Traffic and advertising

The use of mobile devices has dominated Facebook traffic in Ghana. In 2021, only around five percent of Facebook users accessed the platform with computers. On the other hand, mobiles accounted for nearly 95 percent of the traffic. As people continue to join and interact on Facebook, advertising firms also take advantage of the user traffic to propose their products and services. For instance, as of 2022, around 60 percent of men in Ghana were potentially reachable with advertising, while the ad audience reached 40 percent for female users.
