Nowadays, the relationship between beauty and health is getting closer and closer. The term "nutricosmetics", originating from the cosmetics industry, refers to food supplements that provide, according to manufacturers' claims, health benefits to various external parts of the human body (generally the skin, hair, or nails). Products addressing weight, cellulite, or the "detoxification" of the body sometimes complete the lines of nutricosmetics products currently on the market.
In 2022, pharmacies sold over 97.6 million euros worth of beauty supplements in France, while nutricosmetics sales made in organic stores amounted to around 15.3 million euros.
