In the regular election of the Japanese House of Coucillors in 2022, 124 new members were elected, of which 34 members were female. The House of Councillors is the upper house of the Japanese parliament. Once elected, members have six years of terms of service. Half of the members of the house are replaced in a regular election conducted once in three years.
