Public assessment of Russian athletes evaluation at the Olympics 2012-2021

Less than 30 percent of Russians believed that the performance of Russian athletes at the Olympic Games was evaluated quite fairly or somewhat fairly, according to a survey from August 2021. This share significantly decreased from August 2012, when 55 percent of respondents considered the judgement fair. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics that took place in the summer of 2021, the ROC, which stands for Russian Olympic Committee, won the fifth-highest number of gold medals and the third-highest total medal count. The team earned 20 gold, 28 silver, and 23 bronze medals.
