According to a study by the International Association of Professional Congress Organizers (IAPCO), the number of meetings organized worldwide by IAPCO members decreased significantly in 2020 over the previous year due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Overall, IAPCO members hosted roughly 13 thousand meetings ‒ either in-person, hybrid, or virtual ‒ in 2020, while the number of events peaked at over 21 thousand in 2019.
