When selected U.S. corporates and equity firms were asked in a November 2020 survey to cite their most important near-term merger and acquisition (M&A) drivers for 2021, the majority of respondents stated this would be a greater acceptance and growth of creative deal types (for example, SPACs and PIPEs). Just over a quarter of total respondents cited that distressed debt opportunities were their most important near-term drivers post-pandemic. The top three is completed by 16 percent of the respondents, who cited that their most important M&A drivers after the COVID-19 crisis were better deal terms.
