The employment rate by gender follows a similar trend to the general employment rate in Iceland from 2010 to 2022. The employment rate among men is constantly higher than the rate among women, due to the fact that women are more likely to stop working in order to care for children and their families. However, Iceland has the highest employment rate among women in Europe.
