In the two weeks prior to May 22, 2023, none of the analyzed COVID-19 cases in Russia belonged to the SARS-CoV-2 variant Delta first detected in India. The share of that variant in sequenced cases steadily increased in May and June 2021 and decreased in December 2021 in view of the spread of the Omicron variant.
