As of 2020, the total stock of Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) to the manufacturing sector in the African continent amounted to 6.13 billion U.S. dollars. Compared to the preceding year, this was an increase in value from 5.6 billion U.S. dollars. Overall, Chinese FDI stock in the manufacturing sector in Africa increased gradually from 2013 onwards, only dropping slightly in 2018 and 2019.
