
Chinese FDI stock in the mining sector in Africa 2013-2020
As of 2020, the total stock of Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) in the mining sector in the African continent amounted to close to nine billion U.S. dollars. Compared to the preceding year, this was a decline in value from around 11 billion U.S. dollars. Overall, Chinese FDI stock in the mining sector in Africa increased gradually until 2016, before fluctuating between 8.94 billion U.S. dollars in 2020 and 11.02 billion U.S. dollars in 2019. The construction sector received the highest value of Chinese FDI in 2020.
