In 2021, the number of Chinese workers in Algeria was the highest compared to other countries in Africa. The North African country registered around 10,000 Chinese employees, followed by the Democratic Republic of Congo and Nigeria with approximately 8,700 and 8,300 workers, respectively. On the other hand, countries such as Libya and Somalia reported very low counts of the Chinese labor force. Overall, near 94,000 people of Chinese nationality worked under contracted projects and in labor services in the African region in 2021.
