Share of average annual food import in Africa 2010-2019, by region
Between 2010 and 2019, North Africa was the region with the most food imports in Africa, accounting for a share of 31 percent. Southern Africa and West Africa followed with 25 percent and 24 percent, respectively. Moreover, Central Africa had the lowest average annual food imports during the period under review.
