In 2023, green tea accounted for the largest sales share of ready-to-drink (RTD) tea drinks in Japan, with more than 483 billion Japanese yen. Black tea followed as the second-largest segment, with sales of about 222 billion yen. RTD tea is a staple of the Japanese soft drink market, boosting sales of major non-alcoholic beverage manufacturers such as Ito En, Kirin, and Coca-Cola Japan.
