Employment in travel and tourism in Mozambique represented a share of 4.8 percent of total employment in the country in 2020. Tourism was strongly affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which contributed to a reduction in the number of jobs within the sector. Compared to 2019, tourism contribution to the Mozambican employment level declined by nearly 28.7 percent. This meant that over 189 thousand jobs were lost.
