As of the first quarter of 2021, the spending on Moroccan direct investments abroad reached nearly 5.3 billion Moroccan dirhams (MAD), roughly 589.5 million U.S. dollars. In the preceding year, Moroccan outward direct investments accumulated an expenditure of around 7.8 billion MAD (approximately 867.2 million U.S. dollars), decreasing from the peak of nearly 12 billion MAD (approximately 1.3 billion U.S. dollars) achieved in 2017.
