In 2020, approximately 40.5 million conventional cars were sold worldwide, compared to 1.9 million electric car sales. Out of all types of passenger vehicles, electric sport utility vehicles (SUVs) were not as popular as electric cars, with around 800.000 fewer sales in the SUV segment than in the electric car category.
